Worthless to me. A family file can be planned for a complex collection of details OR a readable book report but data entry decisions must be made early in a project. GEDCOM transfers may have unexpected results.
Master locations edited the "Legacy" way using Geo-locations do not allow interesting details like occupations to print on box charts. My locations are entered the way I want them to print, completely ignoring uniform (repetitive) Town, County, State, Country. My files are more or less split by branches of the family that lived in different regions. The descendants of brothers who lived in Australia are in a separate file from the ones who lived in England & Scotland. One of the early postings on the list about Legacy 3 told how long a researcher spent *REMOVING* repeated locations and blank lines in a word processor copy of a report. Check the wording of a Legacy report for someone who spent a lifetime in one location to see if you like the results. Short locations are not exported to a GEDCOM and not used by Legacy addons like TreeDraw. Also check locations that changed names or boundaries over time. Census districts and sub-districts may not match town & county but are essential to finding sources. -- Elizabeth ----- Original Message ----- From: "Arnold > I could not disagree more with Chris Squires' assessment that Geo-location > is close to worthless. > I spent the last day or two cleaning up my "locations" in Legacy.
