Ron & Dennis,
What version of Windows are you using with Legacy 6 Deluxe? There may be
variations in Legacy reports with earlier versions of Windows. Limited
computer equipment was the reason some customers stayed with Legacy 5 along
with the smaller program download size for dialup Internet service.

System requirements from Legacy 6 Help file "128 megabytes of RAM memory.
(256 mb or more recommended)" There is a big difference between minimum
requirements for using basic name collecting features of genealogy software
and practical requirements for "typical" family books over 100 pages with
pictures.

Researchers who cite a source for every variation of date/location in Legacy
6 may run into the limitations of a single Word file when all endnotes are
included for all generations of descendants. Online discussions often
mention book reports over 10,000 names and sometimes the source text is
longer than the body of a descendant report with notes.

Windows XP is normally used with 512 - 1000 mb RAM by online genealogists.
It was never worth upgrading a computer older than Win ME to run XP. Locally
advertised "starter" systems seem to have 512 RAM and a mid-price computer
with XP Media Center has 2 GB RAM.

I've always used second hand desktop computers purchased for video editing
and photo printing rather than a laptop purchased specifically for
genealogy. Registered user of Pocket Genealogist for Pocket PC.

Typical use of genealogy software would include more than one Legacy file
open at the same time, or e-mail & Legacy data file, or Word and/or Excel or
Access from Microsoft Office/Pro. -- Elizabeth

I have 384. This should be plenty.

>I do only have 256 MB of RAM so this may be the problem. (from Ron)
