Mary,
Are you sure that you lost your German data? Data should be committed to the
database once you hit 'save' on each individual person/event/source, etc.
When the executable software crashes, you don't lose that data -- unless the
crash actually corrupted your database somehow. You would only lose data on
the currently open item. It's not like a Word document or spreadsheet
application, where you really can lose hours of work if you don't save or
use auto-save.

Subject: [LegacyUG] Error message and lost all work done that day
Hi Legacy Group,
Yesterday I downloaded the new update. Thank you!
Then I spent about three hours entering German genealogy (it's great
to be retired!)
Then I started updating my records with about 200 LDS baptisms all
done on 31 Mar 2006. I was using the Repeat function on the LDS
ordinances screen.
For the endowment, I was pasting in or repeating "turned over to
temple 25 May 06" in the temple name field, since I am turning these
cards over to the temple to finish the ordinances. I have created this
comment and used it before in the temple field without a problem.
After doing about 150 of the 200 entries, I suddenly got an error
message and Legacy closed. I lost all the German entering I'd done
that day, as well as all the ordinance updating.
I am sorry to say I did not pay attention to the error number,
although it may have been 6 or 8.
Do you have any idea why this happened, and what I can do to prevent
it from happening again?
I did go back into the program [sigh] and reentered all the ordinance
info. I backed up my file after every 5 entries "just in case" and was
able to enter it all. I started reentering the German genealogy, but
only got a couple of people entered before it was dinner time.
Any suggestions will be most appreciated.
