I have a iMac 20-inch Intel Core Duo 2.0Ghz, 500GB HDD, 1GB DDR2 Memory, Superdrive(Burns CDs, & DVD's), Built in iSight Camera, Bluetooth, Airport, Mighty Mouse & Keyboard, power plug.
I purchased this iMac from a friend that moved to England, it was originally purchased from the Apple store back in 2006. This iMac has issues and is being sold as-is, NO returns, refunds or exchanges. I will list all known issues to the best of my ability. The iMac's superdrive works fine I was able to burn files that consisted of 7.5GB's the superdrive burned to disk with no issues. *Known Issues: * *Freezes: *The first and most apparent problem this iMac has is freezing issues. The system tends to freeze sporadically so it's extremely hard to figure out why the system freezes. Sometimes the freezes happen as soon as the iMac boots into OS X, sometimes it happens after hours of use. Sometime it freezes when you launch a program. Once the machine freezes it locks up and a hard restart is required. During OS X Leopard installation the iMac did not freeze or lock up at all it went quite smooth it took about an hour. During OS X update process the machine froze quite frequently it took 5 tries to finally get the OS up to date. *Screen Issues: *The screen has a dead pixel which is noticeable with a light background if the default Leopard background is in use you can't even notice it's there unless your looking right at it. - After about 30-45 minutes of use the screen will have weird artifacts that turn color, usually when you pass your mouse over the spot that is distorted they go away. The distortion seems to happen when the iMac gets hot. The distortion happens on parts of the screen not on all. *Research: * I ran a multitude of tests because the freezes were really bugging me do to the fact that they were so sporadic. so I tried a couple things and came up with solutions but nothing that fixes the iMac permanently. Tests I ran... - Tried brand new memory modules to see whether the issue was related to the memory or kernel panics, when I tried the new memory modules the iMac had the same freezing issues. - Switched out the hard drive, I tried a brand new 1TB Western Digital, I reinstalled leopard once the installation was complete and information input and got to the desktop the system froze after ten minutes of use. - I ran AppleJack to see whether applejack would be able to solve the issues I was having with the iMac unfortunately it didn't solve the issue with freezes. - The last test I tried turned out to be successful but extensive as well. I completely removed the screen of the iMac and connected an external monitor via Mini-DVI port. When I did this the iMac had no freezes what so ever. I even ran TechTool Pro which would lock up the machine as soon as I started to run tests, when I had the external monitor connected and i ran techtool pro the machine ran without any issues at all. I even passed all techtool pro's test's. Which leaves me to believe that the iMac needs either a new screen or a new logic board. The main issue this iMac has is the fact that it freezes up and requires you to do a hard restart in order for the iMac to continue to function. The freeze issue is very annoying after a while and at this point I give up trying to mail the specific issue. Other then the issues described the iMac works. The cosmetic condition is a 7/10. There is no visible damage to the iMac. Please let me know if you would like to see pictures I would be more then happy to send them over. The iMac comes with Power cord, Ice Cube keyboard, Mighty Mouse. I am asking $275 Shipped Or Best Offer. I am willing to negotiate on price so feel free to make me a reasonable offer.
