Greetings folks, For the tinkerers out there, I have a white 30GB 5.5G video iPod (from everymac: http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/consumer_electronics/stats/ipod_5thgen.html).
It's had a few problems: a dying battery (replaced about years ago), the screen has been covered 5-10% by grey (dead???) pixels, and I'm not sure about the hard drive. Oh, and now it's not starting up anymore, though it was doing so regularly--as well as playing music, videos, etc.--within the last 6 months. I'd like to figure out what's wrong with it, but like many home projects, I just haven't had much time for it. Obviously, I can't make any guarantees in terms of its functionality.
