When booted in OS X, you get USB 2.0 speed; while booted in OS 9, you get USB 1.1 speed. On an older model G3 PowerBook, you can use the USB adapter to interface a printer, use a USB thumb drive, use a USB mouse, interface a digital camera, or camera memory card reader.
