Hi swappers,

This may be the mother of "pro-sumer" RAID units. It has 4 SATA drive bays, each populated with matched WD 2TB drives. The enclosure itself is out of warranty, but the drives all have 2 years of warranty remaining. This enclosure was upgraded from the original 1TB drives that came with the enclosure. The available RAID options are: RAID 0, 0 + 1, 5, and 5 with a hot spare. It's currently set up as RAID 5, so after formatting there is 5.6TB of usable space. If one drive fails, the data stays intact. If redundancy is not an issue, it could be set up as RAID 0 and would have about 7.5TB of usable space. The enclosure has connections for FireWire 800 (two), FireWire 400, Hi-Speed USB 2.0 & eSATA . It's running the most recent firmware, v1.02. The printed manual is included.

The original 4TB drive configuration still sells at OWC for over two thousand dollars --> http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Lacie/301250U/

I'm selling this one for just $800, plus shipping.
