Since everyone is doing some sort of longshot now adays, here goes: I have a top of the line G5 quad. *16GB* of DDR2 RAM, a 128GB SSD with 1TB 7200RPM in the bottom bay, and the 7800GT video card. It runs Leopard beautifully (with as much UI lag as my new MBA running Mountain Lion, that is, none), and it works very well in Final Cut, Photoshop, everything. It even has a virtual PC installation of WinXP that runs very fluently. It actually is my current desktop mac, but I'm considering just replacing it with my Macbook AIr so I can carry everything around. Is anyone interested in trading some sort of (slower, possibly) earlier Intel Mac Pro? I can certainly fix one of the things up, even if it's missing something. This G5 is the fastest possible PPC mac around, and is the fastest way to run OS9 apps (if you install Tiger; I can ship it with the original Tiger or with Leopard and disks) around; it's probably destined for developers who want to work on things like TenFourFox and the like. I'd like to keep this domestic since it weighs about 45lbs. It is water-cooled, but being one of the last, it seems to be fine. I can't sell because it is University property, alas.
