I got a beautiful PowerBook 1400cs/166 last year, and while it is a great
computer, I am looking to upgrade to the active-matrix model.

>From what I've seen online it looks like I should be able to use a 1400c
screen in the 1400cs as long as I have the cables and inverter as well. I'm
looking to spend $10-20 shipped, and while all I really need is the
panel/cables/inverter, a mint condition back housing (no hinge
stress cracks) or "1400c/166" badge would be a bonus.

Alternately, I would prefer to do a direct trade, my two 1400s for your
mint condition 1400c. Both of mine are 1400cs passive-matrix models, one
133 and one 166, the former in fair but working condition and the latter in
near-mint condition, with only the faintest hint of the stress cracks that
always show up above the hinges. I'd want to trade for a 1400c/166 model
that is at least in as good a condition as mine is, and might be willing to
throw in a little extra for a perfect condition unit with the original
bookcase inserts, paperwork, or packaging. I'm really just looking for a
dead-stock top-of-the-line machine, but I wouldn't necessarily be opposed
to one with a G3 upgrade. Also, depending on the specs of each machine, I
might want to take out some parts before the swap (for example, the hard
drive so that I don't have to transfer all of my files to the new machine).

If anyone would be interested in this, please let me know.

Thanks,
Steven Fowler
