Hello listers.....I am looking for a solution for a non-booting iMac G5. This
machine is used by our local arts consortium for basic document
preparation....they have an old version of Adobe CS that runs fine on this
machine. It is suffering from the swelled capacitor problem which is fairly
well documented - most of it's capacitors are swelled and a couple are leaking.
It's a 20" 2 ghz iMac G5......I'd prefer to just yank out the hard drive and
RAM and pop them into a replacement machine if possible - I've seen posts about
soldering on new capacitors and frankly I could probably do it but really don't
want to....a replacement motherboard would be a better option than
soldering......a modestly priced 20" machine would be best. I have no problem
taking them to an Intel processor if I can do it with their modest budget.
Let me know what all you might have that would get them back up and
running....the 20" screen is a bigger factor than processor speed.

Best Regards,
Keith House PhotoGraphics
