Hello, For reasons too sordid and/or boring to get into here, I need a first or second generation iPod. While I'm sure there are many fine, late-model iPods out there (Nano, Touch, etc.), I can only use a first or second generation model for this particular dim-witted foray into the world of high-tech.
Along those same lines, I'm afraid I can't use a "project" iPod. Only a fully functional, ready-to-go unit (with the possible exception of battery replacement) will fit the bill, as the mound of projects I will get to Real Soon Now (honest!) is starting to assume ziggurat-like proportions. Should you decide to accept this mission, please shoot me an email with: 1) The generation your particular device hails from (First or Second). 2) The capacity of the hard drive (5, 10, or 20 GB). 3) Whether the unit still has the nearly (if not completely) dead original battery, or if a still-viable replacement battery has been installed. Some idea of what kind of runtime the battery offers would also be helpful. Have an older iPod, but aren't sure just what it is you have? Shoot me the model number from the back of the unit and we'll work it out together. Finally, some idea of the cosmetic condition of the unit would be nice to have, too (i.e. a pic or two would be most welcome). While the need here is simply for a working unit, full stop (with cosmetics taking a back seat to functionality), I can't pretend that an iPod that was used by a little old lady only on Sundays (and looks it) won't take precedence over an iPod that was used by a teenager who spent *their* Sundays with it in a mosh pit (and looks it). Standard disclaimers, shipping info, and whatnot are below. Please let me know your asking price and the cost of shipping (cheap and slow shipping is fine for this). Shipping will be to zip 95132 (CA, SF Bay Area/San Jose). Despite repeated pleadings, my mailman continues to handle my mail as though it's some sort of personal affront, so I need this well-packed and shipped in a cardboard box, please. In fact, the Small Flat Rate Priority Mail box (the one about the size of an old VHS cassette) would be perfect. Of course, if you want to ship the iPod to me Parcel Post (or FedEx Ground) that's fine, too, just so long as it's shipped in a cardboard box. I can pay via PayPal or personal check, seeing as how PayPal is anathema to some folks. If you take Paypal, please be sure to tell me if you have the ability to accept both balance transfer and credit card-funded payments, or only the former. If you prefer a check, I understand that the check will need to clear before the iPod is shipped and am happy to allow more time for that. However, in the interests of getting this thing underway sooner rather than later, it's only fair to mention that folks who accept PayPal will likely take precedence over those who don't.
