I have two 20" 1.8ghz iMac G5s, model A1076. I'd prefer to sell or trade
one or both, but if I don't get any interest I'd be willing to part them
out (the only part that I don't have at least one of in perfect condition
is the logic board).

I bought these as parts machines to try and build one working unit, but
once I replaced the visibly bad capacitors on both logic boards and
problems still persisted I decided that rather than keep pouring money into
them I'd better let someone else have a shot. Both computers are MOSTLY
working and could still be used for certain tasks (file/media servers come
to mind), but if you're looking for a mint collection piece (like I was)
keep in mind that these aren't perfect.

Machine 1:
This one is in great condition, except that there is no onboard audio. I
don't know if this could be caused by a bad capacitor or if something else
is wrong, but I replaced the one identifiably bad capacitor on the board
with no luck. I assume it would work with some sort of USB amplifier (in
fact I can test that if you want), but neither the speakers nor the
headphone jack put out any sound. Before I replaced the capacitor there was
sometimes a high-pitched squeal that seemed to come from the speakers, I
haven't heard it since the repair but without extended testing I can't
guarantee that it is gone. The screen is immaculate, very bright with no
bruises or surface marks. The outer case is good, with some swirls/scuffs
in the plastic and dings around the edges but no flaws that immediately
jump out. The SuperDrive reads well (although I didn't test burning
capabilities). The power supply looks fantastic, no bulging capacitors. The
computer has 2gb of RAM and a 160gb hard drive.

Machine 2:
This one is not quite as nice, but again is mostly working. The main issue
with this one is the video, everything has a red tint, presumably due to a
bad connection on the logic board. The screen is normal when connected to
the other logic board, so I know it's not a problem with the LCD panel or
cable. The screen itself isn't in the best condition, with some surface
marks and one major bruise near the middle, but it does work. The outer
case is near mint, although the center screw that holds the back closed is
broken (this is mainly a cosmetic issue, the two outer screws are what
actually hold it in place). The power supply is currently working fine, but
based on the looks of the capacitors it may not last too long. The
SuperDrive reads well (again, I didn't test burning) but when it ejects
discs it spits them out onto the desk. The speakers sound great. This one
has no RAM and is missing both the hard drive and the hard drive bracket.

Alternately, if no one is interested in a whole computer, I'd be willing to
part them out. In addition to an entire computer's worth of good parts
(with duplicates of most) I also have a complete set of replacement
capacitors (I think it's 20 1800μf 6.3v and 5 1000μf 16v).

I'm not really sure what to ask for these, but how about $80 plus shipping
for the one with no sound and $40 plus shipping for the one with red video,
or $100 plus shipping for both (all prices negotiable)? If you are looking
for individual parts, just let me know what part(s) you need and make an
offer.

I may also be interested in a trade. I'd especially be interested in
trading both for one good 2.0ghz ALS 20" iMac G5 (the one with the
removable back, NOT the iSight model) or trading the one with red video for
a known good logic board (preferably with a numbers-matching aluminum foot,
I'm a bit pedantic when it comes to my collection). I'd also be open to
other computers, devices, or accessories.

I only accept PayPal, unless you'd be able to meet in the Houston area, in
which case I'd accept cash. If you have any questions or want to see
pictures, please let me know.
