*Looking to downsize the number of my external drives. I have too many and most are too low in capacity for my current needs. So looking to sell or trade the following:*
******** Desktop (3.5”) models (full sized drives that come with external power supplies): * 500GB Western Digital “My Book” – This is a very nice drive in that it features triple ports of Firewire 800 (backward compatible with FW400), USB2, and eSATA. Great choice if you need something faster than USB2 but your Mac does not have USB3 ports. Also a great choice if you need to download digital video via Firewire from a digital (tape based) camcorders and want to be able to go from camera directly to the external drive (via your computer but you don't have to save it to your internal drive first). $40 * 1TB Acomdata - USB2 and eSATA connections. Nothing much to say on this one. Basic ext HD. Its unique feature is the eSATA port which while not very useful for Mac users, may be useful with other devices such as gaming systems or your cable/FIOS box (some allow expanding the DVR storage with external drives) that can use eSATA. $40 * 1.5TB 2-drive “RAID 0” with FW800/400 & USB2 ports. This is an Acomdata branded external drive for performance use. Featuring Firewire 800 & 400 ports plus one USB2 port. It is a pair of drives hardware configured as a spanned (striped) RAID 0. This drive is meant to be able to read & write data quickly. Currently it has a pair of 750GB drives in it that make up the single 1.5TB volume. These could be upgraded to larger drives as needed. Enclosure features a built in fan. I don’t believe this drive is configurable as any other type of RAID type. I bought this one second hand and it looks like it has been opened a few times. I have had it for several years but literally have only used it a few times a year for some video work. $70 ******** Portable (2.5”) models (bus powered & data off a single USB cable): * 500GB in generic (black) USB2 enclosure. Internally it is a Toshiba 5400 RPM, 8MB cache, SATA drive. And hey, it has one of those little white Apple stickers on it. :) $25 * 320GB in generic (red) USB2 Enclosure. Internally it is a Hitachi 2.5" 7200 RPM, 16MB Buffer, 3.0Bbit/s SATA. This is a nice drive that actually would be a great upgrade for a current laptop that has a smaller and likely slower drive in it. Then you can put the old drive into this case instead. This one has a bigger white Apple sticker on it. :) $25 * 320GB in Seagate USB 3.0 Enclosure. I bought a couple of these Seagate enclosures off a site that bought these external drives to strip out the internal drive then resold the empty enclosures. So the serial number sticker on the bottom indicates a “2TB” drive. Internally it is a Hitachi 320GB 2.5" 7200 RPM, 16MB Buffer, 3.0Bbit/s SATA. As this is a Seagate enclosure you can be sure that the USB 3.0 ports are really USB 3.0 speed. $30 * 160GB in a Seagate USB 3.0 enclosure. Same story as the 320 directly above, but inside is a smaller 160GB drive. $17 I can take photos of any drives anyone is interested in seeing. I will include at least one data cable with every drive. Drives with multiple port types, let me know if you prefer USB, FW800, or FW400 cables (I don't believe I own any eSATA cables, sorry). I am interested in trades for larger capacity HDs, so I am willing to trade two or more smaller capacity drives that equal or have more storage than a single larger one you want to trade, depending on the connection type (USB3, FW, etc.) and type (portable vs. desktop). However I am leaning more towards portables these days and would only be interested in desktop models that are at least 2TB. Keeping in mind the portables listed above, I would be looking for ones of larger capacity than those.
