Hi Swappers, Doing some clearing out before a big move. Next thing on the chopping block is a 2006 Intel Mac mini (Macmini1,1) that I've done a few upgrades to. I've stress tested the system to make sure everything works and it's running 100% stable. This was a project box I took on a few years ago but never got around to doing anything substantial with it.
Only issue with it is that the DVD drive is flaky and sometimes does not read discs. To remedy this, I'm including a USB DVD drive that works great with the Mini. Upgrades I've done: * Core Duo to Core 2 Dup CPU swap, installed a T7200 C2D 2.0 GHz, used Arctic Silver 5 and new nylon bolts on the heat sink. Runs cool and stable, stress tested for 8 hours maxing out the CPU, doesn't get past 75 C on max load. * Macmini1,1 to Macmini2,1 EFI firmware upgrade. This allows the Mini to use more than 2 GB max memory. Can now use 2x 2 GB sticks for optimum speed (3.2 GB recognized however, due to 32-bit chipset limitations, but the matched pair is faster than a 2 + 1 stick combo.) * 2x 2 GB PC2-5300 DDR2 memory, matched pair, total of 4 GB with 3.2 GB usable. Fastest combo for this machine. * 500 GB, 7200 RPM hard drive, wiped per list rules :-( This machine runs Snow Leopard like a champ and boots very quickly. It can also run Lion 10.7, but that requires a bit of hackery to install (you need a supported Mac and a FireWire cable). I've tested the Mini with SL and Lion and both run great. As per list rules, I'll have to wipe the drive and ship it blank, so you'll have to bring your own copy of SL or Lion. Includes 110W adapter. At this point I've put more money into it than I'm gonna get out of it, so I'm just looking to clear out unused machines and clutter. How about $60 shipped in CONUS? PayPal preferred.
