My father's 2011 MacBook Pro has developed the notorious graphics issue,
and it's looking like a logic board replacement will cost about as much as
a whole computer so he's in the market to upgrade to a slightly better
machine.

His main requirements are that it shows no signs of any graphics/logic
board issues and that it's the same or better specs than his old machine (a
base model early-2011 15"), but ideally he'd like to upgrade a bit more to
a 2012 or possibly even Retina model. I can do minor repairs for him if
that keeps the price down, especially if it's a 15" unibody since most of
the parts in his machine are still good. Ideally the battery should still
be healthy as well, although that is negotiable if it's a unibody model
since they're easy to replace.

Here's what he's looking for:

- 2012 non-Retina MacBook Pro 15". Many of the parts should be compatible
with his 2011, so RAM and HD/SSD are unnecessary and even some major issues
like a cracked screen are negotiable if the price is right.

- 2011 15" or 17" MacBook Pro, any model/specs. Just like with the 2012 he
wouldn't need RAM or HD/SSD, and if it's a 15" other more major flaws would
be negotiable if the price is right (although if it's a 17" it needs to be
in decent shape).

- Early model Retina MacBook Pro 15". It would need 16GB of RAM, an SSD,
and a charger since he doesn't have a MagSafe 2 cable. This one would
pretty much need to be ready to go as-is, as repairs are more difficult and
he doesn't already have a parts machine.

- He might consider something a bit lower-end if the price is particularly
good, like a 13" Retina or a 2010 17", but that would be a last resort.

If you have something he would be interested in let me know the model,
specs, and your asking price including shipping to 77083. He can pay via
PayPal.
