Date: September 18, 2000 Statement 123 STATE OPERATIONS IN TOKAT PSYCHOLOGICAL WARFARE AND LIES IN THE MEDIA In Tokat (district of north central Turkey, near Black Sea coast) while the state is stepping up its operations and its terror by means of its military forces, it is continuing its psychological attacks with the help of lies in the press. On September 17, in some press organs, lies were published about our organisation. These contain statements which bear no relationship to reality, such as that "Kaan Unsal, who was arrested in Sivas, was betrayed by the responsible official for the rural region in Tokat, Sebahattin Yavuz, so that he would not take over Yavuz's position, and that in the meantime the organisation executed two of its members named Sevda Guler and Kasim Tepe." This news was dictated to the press by the police and MIT (National Intelligence Organisation, the civilian security service of Turkey). The news that the commander of our RECAI DINCEL BLACK SEA RURAL GUERRILLA UNIT was supposed to be replaced by Kaan Unsal has nothing to do with the truth. The persons named Sevda Guler and Kasim Tepe are traitors who were punished several years ago. The source for this latest news is the contra-guerrillas. The aim is to transmit such news in conjunction with the operations in the Black Sea Region and especially Tokat. While on the one side the state tyrannises over the people with its weapons and bombs, on the other it disseminates lies through the media in an attempt to cause distrust towards our organisation.
