I agree with you absolutely on that... there is nothing "radical" about Putin and his
Quisling cohorts. What I am driving at is that Putin and his team are entirely
dependant on the West for getting them into power (after the Yeltsinites- I am unable
as yet to put my finger on it, but there is something different about Putin as
opposed to the Yeltsin government), and these same Western forces help sustain them.
I am not speaking only in terms of IMF money, etc. but also of political prestige.
How is it in the "national interest" of a barely breathing Russian bourgeoisie to
antagonise the West?
Here's a conspiracy idea: The Putinites are doing the bidding of the West,
particularly the Americans at the expense of the Germans and Europe to shore up a new
Arms Race for the weapons manufacturers for one, and two to allow Russia to be the
big military "threat" in Europe that she has been lacking as for a decade. Pure
specualtion. But it could work for both sides in the new "sabre rattling".
