Demonstration of repressive police forces around
President Milosevic's home tonight represents a peak of latest political moves
against Socialist Party and members of previous government. These are a smear
campaign to express loyalty to NATO and lobbies in American Congress having no
relevance to the law or justice. It is not result of action of judiciary but of
certain political leaders of DOS and certain members of Belgrade regime. These
moves are provocative, dangerous and dictatorial aimed also to threaten
nation-wide public.
It's shameful for Belgrade regime not having any
official statement or communiqué of these sneaky moves.
As of midnight thousands of citizens of Belgrade
have gathered at two gates of Milosevic home. Many more from all parts of the
country are traveling to join them. We urge all friends of Serbia, all people of good
will, to use all means to press the Belgrade DOS regime to leave Milosevic
alone, to withdraw special units and armed vehicles surrounding Milosevic's home
and to immediately stop all forms of repression against political opponents,
primarily members of SPS.
It is indeed in the best interest of normalizing
political processes in Serbia and concentrating on solving dramatic
socio-economic problems and conflict provoked by Albanian terrorists in Southern
Serbia.
