...which highlights the fact the the context menu commands can handle multiple selected nodes, so context menu Delete and Edit-menu Delete don't do the same thing if you have multiple nodes selected.
Also, this is why (I assume) no one's rushing to add Cut/Copy/Paste to the context menu, first we have to think about how best to support handling multiple nodes in this way.
