It pads to the column 100, but remember that @+node sentinels contain leading indentation, @+node, level dots and the headline, so maybe 50 bytes per node. > I know there aren't a lot of systems where drivespace is a scarcity, but this > still seems a little wanton :-) The file size will not be significantly larger because quite a few sentinels will disappear, including @-node sentinels. > What about all the editors where they don't just disappear? Yes, this is a possibility, but sentinels are still clearly marked with #...@. > If I have too much whitespace in between some defs in a regular editor and I > drag select / delete the extra lines, couldn't I easily merge some nodes? This has always been a danger. Nothing new now. Here we are, now, complaining that gnx's have disappeared :-) It's trivial to change this scheme. I just wanted to report on the initial impression. Perhaps leaving gnx's where they are, on the left, will be the best clue that lines containing them are special. > Not sure what they'll look like in diff guis, either. After the initial changeover, the diffs will be affected only by changes in headlines, or level stars. > Sorry to be such a wet blanket, I just feel that effective collaborative > sentinels have to be expressed in zero bytes or less :-) Like @shadow :-) The new sentinel scheme must use traditional gnx's. The only question is where they will appear. Edward -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "leo-editor" group.
