The code is evolving as fast as I can type at present :-) As for experimentation, any plugin (or script!) can change c.inkscapeCommands. The road to riotous experimentation is wide open, perhaps even more open than if the code were a plugin! In this case, the distinction between "plugin" and "core" makes no real difference.
