Perhaps leo could also have a command to validate myLeoSettings.leo and complain if it finds some obsolete settings that got removed from leo, but are still present in myLeoSettings. A special case would be to validate enabled-plugins node too, which can sometimes contain legacy lines, like it recently happened with UNL plugin that got moved to cotrib branch.
