A fairly kludgy fix is on the trunk at rev 5208.  For Windows *only*,
g.computeFileUrl treats:

    file:///whatever

just like:

    file://whatever

This is the best that can be done now.  There is no way I am going to
change any g.os_path method at this stage of the release cycle.
Besides, I'm not sure that anything else makes sense.  I see no point
in pretending that '/c:/whatever' is a valid Windows path (outside of
g.computeFileUrl, that is.)

Please let me know if you have any further problems with url's.
