After a few hour's work, it's hard to imagine a project for which a 
separate git branch is more needed, or more useful.  This is a highly 
experimental project, as I'll explain in the previous Engineering Notebook 
thread.

Last night's works quickly showed that the project has global impacts 
across all gui-related classes!  And somehow I've managed to break the 
@test batch mode test even when none of the changes are supposed to be in 
effect.  I'll do a git bisect to find the offending commit (in the branch).
