Alex, the mypy dev, mentioned that mypy is already faster than regular python because of mypyc <https://github.com/mypyc/mypyc>. But first I'll start using dmypy <https://mypy.readthedocs.io/en/stable/mypy_daemon.html>, the long-running mypy daemon. It claims to be 10x faster than using mypy in batch mode.
