It is an evolutionary step beyond Jupyter in my estimation. Interestingly, the necessity for marimo to process cells internally in a tree-like manner similar to Leo is an integral part of what makes it work. In my opinion, marimo is actually the python version of Observable. https://observablehq.com/ Personally, I still like the combination of Leo + Jupyter. Think about the development history of Leo over the years, and we know how difficult it is to do a good job in a tree-like manner.
