Paul,

Two suggestions really :

1. I'd like to understand why you're rebuilding from the source RPM.
If this is a personal preference that you have, then that's just
fine. You should be aware that we also provide binary RPMs which
   should work for you.
If there's a problem with the binary RPMs then I would like to
know because I'm the one who usually spends the time creating
   them.

2. I suspect that your problem is really a known libtool problem.
Known to us, that is. I've never had feedback from the libtool
people. Libtool doesn't seem to cope well with creating
stuff based on a library that's not yet installed.
Note in the stuff I left over from your message (below) that
we are passing ../Xm-2.1/libXm.la to libtool, but it doesn't
pass the directory information to gcc; it only tells it to
   go look for -lXm.
I can create the RPMs because I leave LessTif installed while
building the RPMs; otherwise I have the same problem that you
   describe.

If I am wrong and this is not a libtool problem, then I'd like
to be told. But I've not found the exact cause.

Does this help you anything ? (I don't like putting the blame on
others but I honestly don't know how to solve it.)

        Danny
