Those who use something like
cvs.lesstif.sourceforge.net
in their CVS setup are experiencing a problem.
SF has done an upgrade to BIND, which causes their previous
setup containing cvs.*.sourceforge.net to stop working.
You need to change all the CVS/Root files to contain
cvs.sourceforge.net
instead of having the project name in the middle.
