Just as Celtel fails Nigerians when they started a free Sundays call if you
recharge to a certain amount within a set time in June 2007, they are still
going to fail the good people of Kenya with their introduction of free calls on
Sunday. The company have never lived to expectations since they started
operations in Nigeria. Imagine a company that started a promo they called "Take
Off" for Northern subscribers which run between May and July 2007, two months
after the end of the promo, nothing has been heard of the whereabouts of the
winners in the promo. Their involvement in happy hours does not excite
subscribers like glo and MTN mid night calls. In fact, they should pack out of
Nigeria because, they are the only GSM provider in Nigeria that charges as high
as N39.60k per min (66k per sec) on net calls during peak periods whereas glo
charges N28.80k, N25.20k per min (48k, 42k per sec) on glo Classicplus and
Easytalk respectively while MTN charges
N31.80k per min (53k per sec) on MTNxtracool. You can see the difference.

The pricing war between the two local mobile phone companies moved a notch
higher after Celtel announced the lowest tariff yet of Sh4 per minute for
subscribers who call within its network on Sundays.
The offer will however only benefit subscribers who load their phones with
airtime of at least Sh80 between Thursday and Saturday every week.
Postpaid subscribers will also benefit from the offer through credits received
on monthly bills for all Celtel to Celtel calls made on the day of the offer.
Celtel Chief Executive, Mr David Murray, said his company was rewarding its
loyal customers through the offer of affordable and competitive rates.
"We want to reward our loyal customers who want to enjoy off-peak rates on
weekends in addition to providing them with a reliable network," said Murray.
