Apparently, the nice folks at SpamCop are doing something that, if I
recall, SORBS also does--sending email to our list addresses that a
regular mail server would recognize as 'wrong' and 'eat', but that
LetterRip sends back. ("Spam Trap" addresses, I think they call
them.) Thus, instead of waiting for someone to report you as
spamming, they are now trying to 'entrap' you by sending bogus email
that LetterRip probably deals with 'the right way', but that they
consider 'the wrong way'. Thus, my reasoning for this new inquiry:
Beside EIMS, are there any 'regular' mail servers that will
peacefully coexist with LetterRip and that might make me immune from
this attempted entrapment? I've got nothing against EIMS (other than
I'm trying to do everything as dirt cheap as I can for this not-for-
profit bunch of domains...and if it is the best solution, we'll
manage to pay for it anyway), but I would like to be able to ramble
on at least as convincingly as confusedly about why it's the best or
to use something else if it will meet our needs better. I am assuming
that EIMS is generally the best option simply because it's the only
one I can recall hearing the rest of y'all talking about.
In case it makes any difference, I'm running the list and web servers
on an iMac 1.8 Core Duo, 2 Gb RAM, under 10.4.7 (hey, Jud...remember
when I was whining about your lack of support for 13 inch monitors a
couple of years ago? ;-) ) and using WebStar as the web server (have
never used the mail component, don't know if it would work well with
LR or not...plus, 4D has sold Webstar to Kerio...who wants to sell WS
users its own mail server...so...
All help and advice will be greatly appreciated, even if not
thoroughly understood.
