The "Notes on static linking" section (which would explain it) was commented out during the fix for bug 1061. Those notes included 4 paragraphs. Only the last paragraph dealt specifically with the deprecated method of building pass1 of binutils and gcc statically so the other 3 paragraphs *could* be readded but would still seem a bit out of place. Suggestions?
