I don't know quite what happened to that patch, but I've corrected it in
the patches subversion repository now. The copy in the book's download
area will update next time the book is rendered. For now, you can grab it
from
http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/patches/downloads/glibc/glibc-2.12.1-makefile_fix-1.patch.
