I'd like to cut down the recurring monthly colocations fees. Yes, I know that
there are countless people out there who would offer to host a server for
free. While that is very generous, I need to have the LFS server close-by.

Unfortunately, people involved with LFS come and go from time to time and that
means possible free colocation with somebody might end at any given time.
This has happened three times already in LFS' past. Various people and
companies have hosted the LFS server for free and that has been great. Until
I get a notice that says they can no longer do so anymore and I have to "move
out" and I get a week or two to secure a new location.

The last time this happened the LFS server was colocated by VA Software, the
parent company of OSDN, Newforge, Slashdot, etc but they couldn't continue.
This meant the server had to be sent back to me and it was in transit for
about two weeks. For LFS purposes that became a huge issue setting up a
temporary server with a now ex-LFS'er.

I don't want this hassle to happen anymore. To guard against that I put up the
LFS server in a colocation facility in Calgary so I can be close to the
server (it's about an hour's drive from where I live) in case the hardware
fails, or on-site visits are required. The move from where it is now to where
it is going to be isn't going to change things from a control and
peace-of-mind point of view. It will still be in Calgary and physically it
will be one block south of where it's right now with me still having 24/7
access to it.

Thanks, glad it's finally over. I'm no longer just an immigrant. I'm real
now :)
