Well, my opinion on this was that stuff I'd been working on was
announced on the list so that anyone game enough to play with the new
udev and kernel setup had the means to attack it, should they wish to do
so. I would prefer not to have pre-release versions of software in the
book, but feel free to do what you want if you really feel it necessary
to fix the udev stuff up within the next week (Linus said that he
expected 2.6.15 final to come out before the new year).
Would you prefer a branch, then?
Yes, that sounds like a sensible approach. I think I'd like the udev
rules file moved under svn control somewhere too, so we can track
changes we need to make to it, but I'm not sure where the best place is
for it, or how much the existing rendering scripts may need altering to
get it in its correct location on belgarath. For now, if changes to
that file can be achieved via `sed', `cat' or a patch I think that'd be
better, until we come to merging back into trunk. That should give us
enough time to figure out the details without rushing things.

Matt.
