Out of the toolchain packages, I think binutils is probably going to carry the least risk of breakage, but as Ken says, unless you have a really pressing reason to upgrade, I'd just leave it alone until your next full build. Even if there's a critical security vulnerability or show-stopping bug, it's probably safer to patch your current version, assuming it's not too far behind.
