I spoke with Ladislav (the founder of that site) to get some more details on what prompted all this and, well, the write up there explains it all. The roots go a bit deeper. For those who aren't aware (or have forgotten over the years), when distrowatch first started, we provided them with website hosting for a few months (a couple of server incarnations ago). It's nice to see everything come full circle in a way like this.
