Hi all,
I'm brand new with LFS, but consider it as a fascinating challenge.
However, with my Fedora Core 3 it seems not to work at all. I tried for
the fifth time today from the beginning, at each time I'm stopped at the
same poinr: 5.13.1, Re-installation of GCC. I really read over all the
instructions several times, and I'm pretty sure that I did not make any
mistake. But at this part of the book I always get following error:

if [ -f stmp-dirs ]; then true; else touch stmp-dirs; fi
/usr/bin/install -c -m 644 ./libgcc.a /tools/lib/gcc/i686-pc-linux-
gnu/3.4.1/
ranlib /tools/lib/gcc/i686-pc-linux-gnu/3.4.1/libgcc.a
ranlib: relocation error: /tools/lib/libc.so.6: symbol _dl_starting_up,
version GLIBC_PRIVATE not defined in file ld-linux.so.2 with link time
reference
make[2]: *** [install] Error 127
make[2]: Leaving directory `/mnt/lfs/gcc-build/gcc'
make[1]: *** [install-libgcc] Error 2
make[1]: Leaving directory `/mnt/lfs/gcc-build/gcc'
make: *** [install-gcc] Error 2

It looks to me as if there are some ignored or screwed up settings somewhere, quite possible since Red Hat has some heavy proprietary ways to set up their distro. On the other hand, I'm not that familiar with Linux yet, so I don't really dare to dive into some wild experiments that might screw up my hole machine.

Has anyone successfully compiled LFS under FC3 before? Had the same
problem? Found any solution for the issue....?

Any help will be greatfully appreciated!

Thanks in advance,

Rodolphe
