ping linux ************* that is the point, which I don't get
ping: unknown host ************* as far as I can see, the routing

table looks good and typing ping 192.168.0.3 instead of ping linux works as it should.

hi torsten,
the "pretty-easy-way" are, update your /etc/hosts to: 192.168.0.3 linux.TLD linux and so on for each host
or you take a look for a local-name-server, (help: http://www.lehrer.uni-karlsruhe.de/~za186/linux/belwue/bind.htm).
