Hi
Been receiving the list for about a week now - it looks like there are
some very knowledgeable folks out there!
I'm really at BLFS stage (that first LFS boot was a good feeling!) and
that mailist makes for weightier reading(!) however I do have 2
LFS questions.
Firstly - I was going to register as an LFS user as my basic system is up
and running, but there isn't a 6.1.1 option in the list. Is this likely
to change? Will it mess-up someone's statistics if I incorrectly
register?
Secondly - I did have one issue when building the LFS 6.1.1 system that I
haven't been able to resolve. (I have kinda overlooked it, as spent a few
days looking online but was too impatient to not carry on with the build
any longer. Don't pull your punches if this was a Bad Thing - I need
telling... ;-)
It was the perl-5.8.7 full install in section 6.33
I only have quick notes with me at work today, but what I have:
6/54 in op/magic perl test
(think this is 6/54 tests passed)
../lib/Net/hostent.t,4,1024,7,7,100.00%,4-7
(this was from running ./perl harness)
and it was specifically a gethostbyaddr('127.0.0.1') problem.
Obviously this isn't much to go, and I'll start another thread with more
info some other time, but if anyone has read this far ;-) then do they
know if this is likely to cause problems? Can I simply re-make-install
perl over the top of the existing install, or do I need to back track?
(I will have to remake anyway to get a decent log of the test errors. And
learning about the 'tee' command is going to be even more useful now my
console is a serial vt320...)
Thanks,
M.
