Actually, they're not that hard to build, but I agree it's better
to find alternative applications. I haven't built gtk1 for at least
six months. For both glib-1.2 and gtk-1.2 on x86_64 pure64 the only
change is
cp -v /usr/share/automake-V.V/config.{guess,sub} .
before running ./configure (replace V.V.V with wherever the files
got installed, so typically automake-1.9).
People may have seen previous comments from me suggesting there was
a problem with audacious on x86_64 pure64. Turns out the UI changed
and you now have to click on 'play' to start it instead of radio
feeds auto-starting. So, I can again recommend that as a
replacement for XMMS which doesn't need a lot of gnome libs (gnome
users will probably prefer bmpx).
