I have alittle problem wired dhcp work fine but I am not ususally near an
ethernet prot during the day and I have a T60 with the 3945ABG wireless
adapter after going to intes site and donwloading the kernel patch and
attempting to install it I have his a snag when a I modprobe the module
to see if it load Iget the following FATAL: Module MAC80211 not found.
This actually doesn't suprise me because I did not find the new kernel
options that intel specified in the men config. I enabled the existing
MAC80211 even though I installed the patch.
intels solution is herehttp://intellinuxwireless.org/?n=downloads
please look at the instructions regarding both mac80211 and
iwlwifi-1.2.25.tgz I did not move to install the iwlwifi-1.2.25.tgz
package because I did not get it corresponding kernel module working.
Also the first time I triesd to apply ther kernel patch rsync was not
installed so I went and installed it, apparently this patch needs it. the
patch seemed to be successful on second run through, but no new options
appeared under Networking --->
Wireless --->
ou will want to set the following to <M>:
CONFIG_MAC80211=m
Networking --->
Generic IEEE 802.11 Networking Stack (dscape)
You can turn on the sub-options for that subsystem if you want.
Select 'Exit' until it prompts to save your kernel configuration
and select 'Yes'. Now you can build the module:
% make modules
% make modules_install
this is part of the intel readme although I do not know what they are
talking about when they mention
Networking --->
Generic IEEE 802.11 Networking Stack (dscape)
because I have been unable to find kernel option arranged in this order
that match exactly. I really need some help Thanks.
Peace.
