Yes. On my system:
$ grep '^model name' /proc/cpuinfo
model name : AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4000+
model name : AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4000+
I booted off the LFS live CD and built LFS on that. No problems.
