After playing around with fedora 11 I notice they are using ext4. So after thinking.. how difficult is this todo on lfs?
from installing I noticed I needed (partition for ext4 to work). /dev/sda3 ext3 200mb for /boot /dev/sda4 ext4 * mb for / /dev/sda5 swap 200 mb swap was all that is needed for the filesystem to load the O.S.
