Here we are, though I'm not a fat hard driver as many of you are. /dev/hda 80gb /dev/hdc 40gb
hda: /dev/hda1 16mb /boot /dev/hda2 20gb / /dev/hda3 20gb / /dev/hda4 + /dev/hdc1 = /dev/md0 80gb /home /dev/hda5 + /dev/hdc2 = remaining swap for roughly 1.5gb hda2 and hda3 are used as current root and future building ground for the next system. For the swap, I have read somewhere that the outer rim of the drive is faster and better suited for swap. That seemed logical and went for it. md0 is a stripe (raid 0) and is quite efficient for the large chunks of data laying on the home directory. Other interesting facts: I'm currently running my 5th generation of LFS (compiling LFS from LFS, from LFS, ...) and the system is rock solid like I have rarely seen. LFS provides me with the exact system I need, the bare minimum with the tools to develop further more. I don't even bother with kde, gnome and the like, a simple X session with xterm being enough.
