I didn't have a choice. I checked fstab and grub.cfg and they were both 
configured just fine. I also loaded every driver for IDE/PATA/SATA and 
virtualization that it offered and it still would not recognize the 
drive. I also loaded multiple file system support and still had issues. 
It was extreme, but it got it working.

Delete the footer when replying.  It makes is hard to reply back. 
Mailers cut off the footer and anything below it.

I'm glad you got it working, but I can't see where anything before 
Chapter 8 would affect things that way unless there was a mix up where 
the kernel was looking and where LFS was built.
