I think the best way to do it is to build it in Linux inside Virtualbox. Then you can work on it on your leisure, picking back up were you left off each time you work on it.
I'm no expert in LFS, as I'm working through my first build, but I'm sure glad I chose to do it in a Linux installation inside Virtualbox.
