some distros started to drop the /usr hierarchy
the script should be a little smarter to accept the files not only in
/usr/bin but just anywhere in $PATH
something like
awk=$( which awk )
AWK=$( readlink -f "${awk}" )
[ "${AWK%%\/gawk}" == "${AWK}" ] && die...
