After your whole build is done, you can use rm to remove them. But if you are removing static libraries during your build, just be sure to keep your glibc *_pic.a static libraries. They are needed throughout the building of LFS and BLFS. And for flex and bison, you can generate shared libraries and remove the static libraries as HLFS does. Really, disk space shouldn't have been a reason to remove them in the first place. What I like to do is keep the static libraries in an archive later on if I need them to build a static binary, I'll have them around.
