xfer:make-backups is _not_ making backups, either on remote site (with put), or locally (with get). I have verified that it is set by typing:
lftp> set -a | grep make-backup set xfer:make-backup yes When clobber is unset I get the following message. -- get: test.txt: file already exists and xfer:clobber is unset If I set clobber to true, and I either *put* or *get*, the file is clobbered, and no backup is made. $ lftp --version LFTP | Version 4.3.8 | Copyright (c) 1996-2012 Alexander V.
