Do you have to use ftp for this task ?

rsync would probably be a more suitable fit for the purpose.

I'm using lftp to backup to a remote server and use
mirror -R -v -n -X Maildir/ /home/mine mine

ie everything in /home/mine except Maildir

it is removing and then re-transferring each file , even hough it hasn't been changed on the local machine .

Is this correct ?
if so , what i want is to just transfer any changed/new/ files

can anyone help me out ?
